i suck at blogging

Wow, it's been a long time since I've last updated and I apologize to those who actually have been reading my posts, but to be honest, sometimes I forget that I have a blog =/.  It takes some getting used to but I promise I will try and be more consistent from now on =)

A lot has happened since I've last updated back in...October?! Jeez! Well first thing's first, I got a job! Whoo hoo! I'm working as a tour assistant for the Jazz at Lincoln Center band and just to be clear because so many people have asked, this position is nowhere close to being a tour guide. Haha.  Basically, the jazz band tours all around the US and places abroad throughout the year and I do all the behind-the-scenes work in coordinating their travels, tracking all their finances, and creating budgets for their national and international tours.  Quite frankly, I can't say that I 100% love what I do but what makes my work so enjoyable is the working environment and my co workers.  They are so much fun to be around and because we're all girls, I almost feel like I'm part of a mini-sorority. Haha.  We eat, we laugh, we goof off, and we occasionally do some work, which to me, sounds a lot like college, except that I'm getting paid =) haha. But overall, I feel really lucky to be part of an organization that truly believes in the art of music and making it accessible for people to experience...and I think that's pretty cool.

Besides working life, home has been a little bit lonely.  My grandmother moved back to Korea back in November. We realized that it wasn't healthy for her to stay in the US.  She was all cooped up in our house, doing nothing so we thought it'd be best for her to be back in Korea where it was familiar and there were people outside of the family who she could hang and talk with.  Her moving back made us all a little sup sup hae (haha) but in the long run, it's better for her and for us.  Recently, I've been hanging out with my sister, but you know how it is in college...when you come home all you want to do is hang out with your HS friends.  I'm convinced that my sister thinks she's too cool for me so I'll just leave it at that. I guess the only eventful thing worth talking about is my Christmas with my family =)

Yesterday must have been the longest gift exchange we've ever had.  Now that there's a new addition to the family (Soonjae) and that I'm working, there were double the gifts under the tree.  It took about two hours for everyone to open their gifts but it was really rewarding to see my family open the gifts that I had worked so hard for (haha not really).  Afterwards, my cousins and I went to see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.  The short story, written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, is about a man, born looking like he's 80, who ages backwards as time goes on.  The special effects were pretty cool and I thought it was a really sentimental and touching film..very Forrest Gump-esq (same director).  You guys should go see it =)

That's about it for now.  I hope you all had a good holiday and have a happy happy new year!
