I now pronounce you...

Husband and Wife!

Today, my cousin Jeannie and her fiance, Soonjae finally tied the knot. The ceremony was beautiful, the bridesmaids were all dolled up, the groomsmen looked so GQ in their tuxes, Soonjae never looked so well groomed and handsome (haha), and my beautiful cousin was absolutely stunning. Tonight was her fairy tale dream come true.

It's really crazy to believe that my cousin is now a married woman! I told myself I wouldn't cry, but as she stood there with Soonjae exchanging her vows, I couldn't help but to get all teary-eyed. It's been a long process of helping her with wedding preparations but it all came together so well in the end. And I am so proud of her.

After the crazyness of taking pictures and greeting the new
family members, we headed off to the reception hall at Jericho Terrace..and you know what happened next...PARTY!!!!! I hadn't gone dancing or clubbing in a while so I was dying to get out on the dance floor and have a good time. And for those of you who know me, you know how much I love to dance =p. Thankfully, the DJ put on some good jams and we danced the night away.

The First Dance

Tonight was also a good time of seeing old friends from back in my youth group days. When my home church split in middle school, a lot of my older brothers and sisters moved on to different churches, so it was good to catch up with them and see what was going on in their lives.

Overall, the entire wedding went really well. There were no major mishaps or mistakes and everything was perfect. Jeannie unnie, I hope today was everything you ever dreamed of and more. I love you and congratulations on your marriage. May God bless it tremendously! =)

My first day on the job (sorta)

Yesterday, I started my internship at Jazz at Lincoln Center and my first day went really well. I never realized how crazy morning rush hour is in the city. I've never seen grown men and women book it that fast to catch the subway. It was quite scary.
My supervisor, Veronica, is really nice and is actually my year..haha. She just started her position as the new PR assistant this summer. It was a little humbling at first to be working under her but she's really sweet and helpful.

Yesterday was the first all staff meeting to kick off the new 2008-2009 season, which opens this Thursday with famous jazz pianist, Ahmad Jamal. All the departments got together and introduced the new staff members and interns. After a little spiel from the head honcho about what to expect in the new season, guess who showed up for a special presentation?? WYNTON MARSALIS!--one of the most promiment jazz trumpeters of this era!! He put on a little jam session teaching us about jazz piano and discussed the different styles of pianists such as Ahmad Jamal and Thelonius Monk. It was like Jazz 417 (a musicology class I took) all over again..but 1000x better!

For those of you still in Michigan, you should definitely see Wynton Marsalis and the JALC Orchestra when they perform at Hill Auditorium, March 10! Last year, they were AMAZING so take advantage of those discounted student tickets. You won't be disappointed!

Other than that, my first day was full planning meetings, getting acquainted with the staff, and putting together press clippings--a boring and tedious job, but what can I expect? I'm an intern =P I'm sure it'll get better..I think...

until next time..

The Bachelorette Party

This past Saturday, I celebrated my cousin's bachelorette party with her bridesmaids and a few of her closest friends. Instead of doing something wild and crazy, we took a more classier route and went on a wine tour out in Northfork, Long Island. The tour included a limo ride to the vineyards, lunch, and visitations to 5 different wineries--all of which were fabulous!

Usually, I'm not a big wine person, or an alcohol person for that matter, but if I could make a suggestion for all you wine lovers out there, there are a couple of wines that I particularly liked.

White wine: all go very well with fish, chicken, and seafood
1. Sauvignon Blanc
2. Gewurztraminer
3. Riesling

Red wine (not a big fan of red wine): pairs nicely with red meats and pastas
1. Merlot

There were a few dessert wines that I liked also but I forgot the names of them..oh well. Check out more pictures from the trip on my Facebook.

Hanging out with a few of the older sisters on this trip made me miss my Roots girls back in Ann Arbor. The friendships, the comraderie, the laughs, even the drama (not that we had a lot) were all things that I definitely took for granted in college. Now that I'm back at home in a different environment, I realize the importance of having community, especially with other peers my age.

So to all the Roots girls, wherever you are, I MISS YOU!! and update me on how you guys are doing!

Hello Blogspot!

By popular demand, people have asked that I join Blogspot to post new updates instead of using my myspace page. I originally opted for myspace because I could post up my music but I understand that it's somewhat of an inconvenience to subscribe to my blog there, if you don't have an account..so here I am on Blogpot! But you can still check out my myspace for new music (not that I have any...yet =/ )

So what's going on with me? Well, ever since my sister went off to college, the house has definitely been a lot quieter and relaxing. It's amazing what one less person can do to a household. Although I have to admit, it's been a little bit boring not having my sister to boss around or hang out with, but she'll be back soon for my cousin's wedding.

Speaking of which, these days I've been helping my cousin a lot with wedding preparations. It's been a lot of fun since we haven't had much time to hang out before so we're having some great bonding time =) Her wedding is next Saturday and I'll be performing at the ceremony, which I'm really nervous about. Weddings are such an important celebration that should be nothing less than perfect, so I hope I do a good job and not screw up!

Other than being my cousin's slave and chillin' around the house, I'll be starting an internship at Jazz at Lincoln Center as a PR intern so I'm really excited about that! It is unpaid which means I'll still have to get a part time job, but this is right up my alley for what I want to do in the future so I think this will be a great experience, not to mention, a great resume booster!

Spiritually, I've been really stretched and challenged with my family but this was the very reason why I came back to NY and I'm praying that I just have the patience to see what God wants to do here at home. Also, starting this month, I've decided to attend RWC more regularly to be more plugged in. I've been attending my home church for a majority of the summer and have been going out to Remnant sporadically, but I know that God is moving within AMI so I'm leaning towards committing to RWC. Again, the only inconvenience is the commute but that'll just have to be a sacrifice. Small groups are starting up this week so I'm hoping to meet new faces. *Sigh*...it's like freshman year all over again.

That's it for now. Hope to hear from all of you!
