Paramore: Brand New Eyes

Guys, I'm totally loving the new Paramore album.  Lead vocalist Haley Williams is amazing.  She's got one of the most strongest, powerful and wholesome voices I've ever heard.  You guys should check it out!

A few of my favorites:
1. Careful
2. Playing God
3. Misguided Ghosts

Memories of India

As some of you may know, this past weekend I participated in a walk to stop child trafficking with my church community at MSNY. Despite the rain, the event was a huge success and the organization has raised close to $400k. Thank you to those of you who contributed through my fundraising page. Your donations and support are greatly appreciated. For those of you who haven't had a chance to give and would still like to, donations are accepted through December 31st.

Taking part in the walk reminded me of India missions back in '06. I was sad, remorseful, and most of all ashamed for having forgotten about the children I met and the mothers I talked with in the red light districts of Mumbai. When I got home I started reading back through my journals on the trip and got a chance to reflect on my experience there. I remember feeling so heartbroken for that nation but hopeful at the same time because God was showing us that He was already training up His workers to bring the good news of Christ to those areas where you'd think all was lost.

To be honest, it's been a while since I've last prayed for the Navjeevan Orphanage or for Uncle George's NTC seminary school. And this weekend reminded me just how 'out of sight, out of mind' I am. I don't know if I'll ever get a chance to go back to India or see those girls from the orphanage all grown up, but they will always hold a special place in my heart and in my prayers.

Stop Child Trafficking Now

Hey Guys,
This weekend I will be taking part in the Stop Child Trafficking Now (SCTN) walk with members of my church community at Morning Star New York. SCTN is a nation-wide campaign aimed to raise awareness and money to end child slavery all across the world.

My goal is to raise $100 by December 31, 2009, which is a pretty reasonable goal but hopefully I'll exceed that amount with your guys' help.

If you would like to support this cause, you can click here to make a donation and to find out more about the organization.

Thanks for your support.

Hidden Treasures

So, it's a couple of days away from the start of fall and I'm UBER excited for this new season. This means colder weather (yes!), UofM football, (yes!) the new season of Heroes (YES!) and my favorite, FALL FASHION! (YES!)
I finally completed my big project in switching out my fall wardrobe and as I walk around the mall and admire the new, beautiful styles of this season, I can't help but fall madly in love with fall fashion.  The prints, the patterns, the colors, the layers--they're all so chic and fabulous! But there are some things I just can't afford to wear.  So this season, I'm focusing on taking the clothes that I already have and spicing them up with a little bit of accessories.

I found this gray tweed blazer in my mom's closet and it totally  screams early 90s. BUT thankfully blazers are IN this season and there's nothing better than marrying the power and masculinity of blazers with a little bit of feminine flair.  I paired this with a black satin top that I already had and then went out and bought a very inexpensive layered necklace.

Add on some dark-wash skinny jeans and a pair of black pumps and there you have it--a chic, stylish outfit perfect for the office.  And no one will ever know you were on a budget. You guys should try it! You'll never know what hidden treasures you'll find  in your very own closet.
